Aircraft not following climb instruction

JFA09K was arriving @ FL430, I had to descend it to FL410. After the conflict was resolved I gave it instructions to climb to FL430, which were acknowledged, however the plane did not climb. No change in FL, ROC remains zero.

I have only downloaded the AIRAC update yesterday. Not had a chance to install it. I’ll try to recreate as soon as I can. Unless one of the LC team beats me to it.

Just curious though, if it was overflying traffic, why descend it to climb up again? Normally not done. Especially at 430! Not much up there that would stop you from using heading I imagine? Obviously I have no idea what the directions of travel etc were.

Hi Cloggy, it came from the south-eastern tip via RATUK, in close sequence with N474MJ at same FL, I had to coordinate-in with HN to avoid a loss of separation the moment they entered my airspace.

Ah ok. So both came in from Ratuk? If you spot it in advance, request them at headings that are parallel/diverging. Maybe some speed control can help as well. Do NOT assume them until separated, then you won’t get the LOS.

Thanks Martin....Issue found & resolved!

Basically the MaxFL for that A/C type was set to below FL400. The FPL in LC overrides the aircraft type restriction...although, as you found, you are then unable to issue climb commands above the stated A/C maximum.

The PC24 does indeed have a higher ceiling...so it has now been amended & tested.

Thanks, I suspected sth like that, just was not knowledgeable enough to find the a/c data for ceiling in the database.
