On IOM / S7 / S4, you can often save a few miles and resolve a conflict by letting traffic routing from Dublin / Shannon towards the London area 'cut the corner' with direct routings to RISLA or KEPAD, rather than letting them fly further east.
What are the real life rules surrounding doing this. I guess it may be altitude dependent?
I'm sure there are other sectors where this is relevant as well.
