I find what helps, is when I load up and start the simulator, I start the exercise, ensuring that Speech Rec is running, then I say the words "Move Up" once the simulator is running within the chosen sector. This in turn makes Speech Rec press the Up Arrow moving the screen up by one key press, on the software you will see it say 'Moving'.
We don't want to be in this mode. So I then pause LC, Close Speech Rec, then as quickly as I've closed it, reopen Speech Rec program and turn it on, clicking back onto LC once done. I then say again the words: "Move Up", and on the Speech Rec Window at the top, the words 'moveup' will display but nothing should happen. This will then indicate that you are in LC mode.
Speech Rec works for windows 7 to 10 but doesn't run in windows 11 due to win 11 having a new sort of version of Speech Rec called Voice Access which is not supported by LC at the present moment.
When you give a command to an aircraft to say descend to a level for example, Speech Rec won't recognise full callsigns, so its better to use the last 3 letters or digits (in phonetic alphabet) so that speech rec understands and parses the instruction to the program to command the aircraft to do as you require of it.
Example:
EZY98GF inbound to TIMBA, we can instruct it to leave TIMBA on a heading and descending to MSL by saying:
98GF (Niner, Eight, Golf, Foxtrot), Leave TIMBA heading 350 degrees, descend Flight Level 80.
if it doesn't detect the callsign properly we can take out 9 and just say 8GF.
You will find if successful that EZY98GF's tag will update with the altitude changing from previous set (Say FL90 to FL80) and the DCT (which indicates direct to waypoint/fix) will change to L350 where the aircraft will fly heading 350 after passing waypoint TIMBA both simultaneously.
I should make a video showing how to properly get it working at some point if it will help you out a bit. Let me know
